入所式 Entrance Ceremony

4月9日より、青年海外協力隊の派遣前研修が始まりました。JICAには、長野県の駒ヶ根と福島県の二本松の２カ所に訓練所があるのですが、アフリカ／アジアに派遣予定の人の多くが二本松で研修を受けます。ラオスに行く私も、二本松での研修です。
研修所は、二本松駅から３０分くらい山を登った、安達太良山の山腹にあり、景色がとても綺麗。山が毎日見れて幸せ。訓練所はとても広く、斜面にあるからか階段が多く入り組んでいて迷路みたい。
As a JICA volunteer, I will be working in Laos starting this July. The 2-months training before dispatch began at JICA Nihonmatsu Training Center in Fukushima on April 9th. The center is located on the slope of Mt. Adatara and the view from the training center is just awesome.
6月中旬まで約２ヶ月、合宿形式で、派遣国で使う言語の勉強、同時に安全・健康管理、国際協力の手法などを学びます。久しぶりに勉強が生活の中心。月曜日〜土曜日まで、だいたい1日に語学の授業が5時間と、レクチャーが１つというのが基本のスケジュールです。全く新しい語学を1から勉強するのって、楽しい！私はラオス語を勉強しているのですが、最初はほぼ全く分からなかったラオス語。今週ちょうど中間テストが終わったのですが、文字も読めて、少しずつ話せるようになってきたのが分かって、嬉しい！これから英語を教える、ということもあって、外国語がしゃべれるようになるってどういうことだろう？というのを考える、いい機会にもなっています。
In the training, we ( we are called trainees until we finish the training) study the languages of the host countries, and methods of international cooperation, and health/security management and so on. We usually have five language classes and a lecture each day. And we are studying throughout the day and night from Monday to Satrurday. It is so much fun to learn a new language, Lao, from the very beginning. This experience makes me think about what it means to be able to speak a foreign language. I have just finished mid-term exams this week. Although I have a long way to go, now I can read, write, and speak Lao language which I couldn't understand at all at the begining of the training!
でも、ずっとこもりきりで、集団生活・誰かと一緒に行動するのが苦手な私にとっては、24時間誰かが近くにいる、誰かと過ごすのはストレスがかなり大きいです。でもでも、これは私の中の大きな課題でもあり、これからもずっとついて回るもの。変えれるかどうかは別にして、そこに向き合えるこの70日間は、貴重な機会だと思う。自分自身の気持ちと周りの人と。周りの人たちはとてもいい人が多いので、勉強はもちのろんのこと、自分が何を感じているのかはちゃんと大事にしながらも、「一歩の勇気を出してみる」を目標に頑張りたいです。
For people like me who are not good at working in groups and socializing with people, this life at the training center could be tough sometimes. There are always people around and it is required to work together in many situations. I tend to become introverted and a one man band. But I think this 70-day training could be a good opportunity to face this and see whether I can change it or not. Fortunately, most people here are very nice. I'm trying to find the courage to take steps little by little with staying true to my own feelings.
と、ここまで書くのに１ヶ月くらい経ってしまいました＾＾；（タイトル、はじまりました、だ・・・）また青年海外協力隊のこと、訓練のこと、ラオス語のことなどなど。時間を見つけて、書いていきます。
It took about a month to write this... I'll find time and write more about my life here, the JICA volunteer program ( many people outside of Japan may not know about it), and Lao languages.
